Counterfeit "fake capacity" flash drives report a size to Windows far larger than their real flash chip — any write past the real capacity silently wraps around and corrupts data already written near the start. Separately, a drive can be genuinely sized but still have physically bad sectors that corrupt whatever's stored there. Full Test writes real, verifiable data across the entire tested range to a real file — CinderDriveTest_SAFE_TO_DELETE.tmp in the folder you pick — then reads all of it back in a separate pass, which is what actually catches both a wraparound and bad sectors, with no blind spots. The file is not hidden — open the drive in File Explorer while a test runs and you'll see it sitting there and growing, visible proof the test is really writing to the drive. It's deleted automatically when the test finishes or is stopped.
